Joseph M. Carmichael, 83, passed away peacefully after a very long illness, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Edinburgh, Scotland, Joe has lived in Bordentown Township for 46 years, served on Township Council, and was Mayor in 1975. He also served on Bordentown Township's Planning and Zoning boards, and was a Democratic Committeeman in Burlington County. He was a lifetime member of Bordentown Elks Lodge #2085 and VFW Post 2692 in Mt. Holly, and a member of Bordentown Twp. Senior Citizens Group. Joe was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, serving in the Pacific. He was a maintenance supervisor at Dunham's for 25 years, and along with his wife, owned J&M Apartments in Bordentown Twp. for 30 years.

Son of the late David F. Carmichael, Sr. and Marie G. Rogeau Carmichael, and brother of the late George Carmichael, he is survived by his loving wife, Mary of Bordentown Twp.; two daughters and a son-in-law, Pat and Steve Zuzulock of Bordentown Twp. and Elaine Carmichael of GA; two sons and daughters-in-law, Joe and Linda Carmichael of FL, and John and Gail Carmichael of KY; four brothers, David Jr. of NY, William and John of CA, Thomas of Palmyra; a sister, Genevieve Lepesha of Delran; several grandchildren, including Mary, Stephen and Brian Zuzulock; and great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 24th at 10:00 AM at HUBER-MOORE FUNERAL HOME, 517 Farnsworth Avenue, Bordentown, with committal and military honors to follow at the Brig. Wm. C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery in North Hanover.
