In the 1870 census taken June 15, Alexander was living in Loudon Twp., Carroll Co., Ohio, with a Violetta Stine. Alex was listed as a farmer.

His obituary in the Free Press Standard, Carrollton, Ohio, Thursday, February 15, 1923.

The remains of Alexander Allensworth, former resident of Carroll, near Amsterdam, were brought to Carrollton Tuesday, commitment being made to the mausoleum, Grandview cemetery. Mr. Allensworth was 70 years old, death occurring at Richmond City, Oregon. Of immediate kindred, two children survive. The late Henry Allensworth of Kilgore was a brother and the late William T. Allensworth of near Amsterdam a half brother. Nephews and nieces at Amsterdam are the only near kindred of this community, these having the burial in charge.
