Ruth Edna Landreth Kendrick, 91, of Stanleytown, died Sunday, June 15, 2014, at the Golden Living Center in Martinsville. She was born July 26, 1922, in Rockingham County, North Carolina to the late Houston Landreth and Cora Elizabeth Payne Landreth. Mrs. Kendrick worked for Stanley Furniture for more than 35 years prior to her retirement. She attended the Church of Christ.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Lee Kendrick; two sisters, Mary Williams and Annie Scotton, and four brothers, Roy Landreth, William Landreth, Gordon Landreth and Walter Landreth.
Mrs. Kendrick is survived by one daughter, Mary Lou Collins and husband, Patrick of Bassett; two sons, Donald W. Kendrick, Sr. and wife, Barbara of Stanleytown and Ernest Kendrick, Jr. and Cindy of Martinsville; six grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held Wednesday, June 18, at 10:00 a.m. at Henry Memorial Park with Minister Tim Canup officiating. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Wright Funeral Service Chapel in Martinsville, and other times at the home of Donald W. Kendrick in Stanleytown.
