While they lived in Colville in 1910, they soon moved south to the little town of Penawawa, WA which is in Whitman County on the Snake River. This was a major ferry point across the river and a direct route from Colfax to Walla Walla. Evidence that they lived here for a period of time is from the marriage certificates of his children, whom he married and listed the place of the marriage and his residence. [Note: Penawawa no lover exists because of the building of the Little Goose Dam in 1963. Some of this area became flooded and the cemetery was moved to Colville]
