"BOB" G. JR.Robert "Bob" G. Grether, Jr., 73, of East Haven entered into eternal rest at CT Hospice on December 14, 2009 where he was encircled by his devoted wife and loving family. He is survived by Elizabeth, "Liz," Heimann Grether his beloved wife of 46 wonderful years.

Born in New Haven September 13, 1936, a son of the late Robert and Maria Grether. He graduated from St. Lawrence Grammar School, Notre Dame High School and Hyller College in Hartford. He enlisted in the Army reserves on January 22, 1958 and was discharged on January 22, 1967. Bob was a dedicated Architect at Westcott and Mapes in New Haven for 41 years and was presently employed by DeCarlo & Doll. He was a member of Harugari Singing Society for 50 years serving as President from 1982-85 and 1987-88. He also was a member of HSV Bavaria and a parishioner of Our Lady of Pompeii Church. An avid camper, Bob especially enjoyed the outdoors.
Other hobbies included his love of dancing, and a passion for model trains, along with drafting and building scenery to scale for his N. Gauge trains.

Bob is also survived by his loving daughters, Mary (Paul) Cofrancesco of East Haven, Lisa (David) Hahn of Bethesda, MD, Debra (Gerald) Westphal of West Haven and his devoted son, Robert G. Grether, III of East Haven. He was the cherished grandfather to C. J., Zachary and Jessica Cofrancesco, Nathan and Justin Hahn, Ryan Buzak and Gillian Westphal.
Endearing brother to Fred (Maureen) Grether of West Haven and Edward (Thea) Grether of Florida and many adoring nieces, nephews and godchildren. He will be dearly remembered by his family and friends for being a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and a loyal friend to all he knew.

His funeral procession will leave the PORTO FUNERAL HOME, 234 Foxon Rd. (Rte 80) East Haven Friday morning at 8:30. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Our Lady of Pompeii Church at 9:00. Interment will follow in East Lawn Cemetery.
