Catherine Irene Avant, 60, the wife of Sparky Richard Avant, Sr., died Friday, June 13, 2014, in Carolinas Hospital.
Mrs. Avant was born November 12, 1953, in North Carolina, a daughter of Harry Edward Graham and Alice Gertrude Woodberry Graham.
She was a member of Huggins Chapel where she served in the Women's Missionary Society and Choir member.
She was survived by her husband; two children, Sparky Richard (Brandy) Avant Jr. and Randy David (Kim) Avant; and two grandchildren, Donavon Richard Avant and Caitlin Rose Avant; two brothers, Harry. E. (Sharon) Graham Jr. and Furman Marion Graham; and four sisters, Alice Faye (Sam) Nexson, Karen Sue Graham, Lee Gertrude Graham, and Teresa Ann "Lisa" Graham.
She was predeceased by her parents; a daughter, Teresa A. Avant; a brother, James Graham; and a sister, Lois Ann Graham.
Funeral services were Tuesday, June 17, 2014, in Huggins Chapel. The Rev. Rolin Booth and the Rev. Daniel Poston officiated. Burial, directed by the Hemingway Chapel of McKenzie Funeral Home, followed in the Poplar Hill Cemetery.
