He proudly served his country for thirty years in the U.S. Army and seven years in the National Guard.
He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Gladys F. Burkhalter; sons, David W. Burkhalter and wife Diana, Lonnie S. Burkhalter and wife Vickie, and Darryl L. Burkhalter and partner Bruce Sturgill; grandchildren, Carina, Christin, Scarlet, and Shane; great-grandchildren, Aaron, Alex, Malea, Addison and Gracie; sister, Mary Lou Robbins and husband Bill; and brother-in-law, Calvin Ruzicka and wife Raenell.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 18, 2014 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m at Porter Loring Mortuary North.
