Dale Carl Michels, the son of Carl and Esther (Oerter) Michels, was born on September 25, 1937 in Reynolds, Nebraska. He passed away on June 13, 2014 at the Brodstone Memorial Hospital at Superior, Nebraska at the age of 76 years, 8 months, 19 days.

Dale was baptized on October 24, 1937 by Rev. H.C. Marting and confirmed on March 18, 1951 by Richard Schlecht. He was a lifelong member of the Lutheran Church. He attended Reynolds grade school and high school. Upon graduating he attended Fairbury Junior College and later transferred to Kearney State College.

He was united in marriage to Mitzi Lou Flickinger on December 6, 1958 in Hastings, Nebraska and five years after they were married their daughter Shelly Lynn was born. They lived in Nelson, Nebraska for 10 years where Dale taught junior high and was assistant coach. He also worked for Walnut Grove Company, selling feed after school. They moved to Superior, Nebraska where he was General Manager for the Dr. Scratch Company and sold cattle dusters out of Smith Center, Kansas. He became an instrument rated pilot for his work. After a few years he began T&M Supply, putting up Hog Houses and Dairy Barns. Later in life, Dale started Neb-Kan Consultant Service as a Soil Conservationist, he loved his job and especially all his customers, and they were almost family to him. Dale also invented the Catfish Getter which are lightweight fiberglass bank line fishing poles completed with hook, line, swivel and sinker to make bank line fishing a snap. He put together and shipped many many poles all over the United States.

He loved to visit with people, his Friday night group, but especially his family, his wife of 55 years, daughter Shelly who worked for him for 31 years and will continue to run his business, his grandchildren. He was so proud of both of them and loved their spouses too. He also loved his Lord and had a personal relationship with him. He loved his life.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother Marvin Michels, brother-in-law Len Prellwitz and his aunt and uncle Rock & Viola Beachler.

He is survived by his wife Mitzi, and daughter Shelly Butler and husband Scott all of Superior, Nebraska; two grandchildren, Whitney Huynh and husband Tri of Atlanta, Georgia; and Cody Butler and wife Whitney of Superior, Nebraska; one sister Mae Prellwitz of Reynolds, Nebraska and sister-in-law Mary Michels of Clifton, Kansas; other relatives and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held on Monday, June 23, 2014 at 10:30 am from the Megrue-Price Funeral Home in Superior, Nebraska with Pastor Mark Diehl officiating.

Music was "How Great Thou Art" and "The Lord's Prayer" with Carlita Price as the organist and Tiffany Willett as the soloist.

Visitation was held on June 22, 2014 from 1:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

Pallbearers were Cody Butler, Scott Butler, Cameron Grabast, Greg Michels, Larry Michels, Scott Michels, Randy Prellwitz, and Jeff Prellwitz. Honorary Pallbearers were Tri Huynh, Arnold Ross, Roger Nelson, Jim Butler, Calvin Hayes, Ryan Cates, John Sullivan, Eulin Ebsen, Kent Beachler, and Terry Priefert.

Interment was in the Evergreen Cemetery at Superior, Nebraska.

Memorials are suggested to go to Billy Graham Ministerial Association or St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
