WILLIAM DOWLING BERRY

Hampton, March 3 [1950] -- William Dowling Berry, 71, of Ashton died in a Walterboro hospital early this morning after a two weeks' illness.

He was the son of the late J Frank and Hattie Kinard Berry of Smoak.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 Saturday afternoon from the home of Mrs Vernon C Sauls, Hampton, by the Rev G T Phillips, assisted by the Rev Ben Locklair, the Rev B H Covington, and there Rev Edmon R Sauls. Interment will follow in the Methodist church cemetery in Ashton.

Survivors include his widow, Mary Jane Berry; two daughters, Mrs Vernon C Sauls and Mrs Elise Berry Hiers, both of Hampton; four brothers, Lee F Berry of Charleston, Walter Berry of Smoaks, Joe Berry of Charleston, and Percy M Berry of Savannah; three sisters, Mrs C C Garris of Andrews, Mrs Harold Sanders of Indiantown, Florida, and Miss Fairy Berry of Smoaks; three grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.
