Mrs. Franc Brown Dies
Was One of First White Children Born in This Section of State
Mrs. Franc M. Brown, aged 62 years, died Wednesday at the home of her son, Dr. Earle G. Brown, 1220 Garfield avenue. She has been failing in health since the death of her husband, R.F. Brown, January 2, 1921. Pneumonia was the immediate cause of death.
Mrs. Brown was born March 19, 1859, at Brownsville, Kan., the name of which has now been changed to Auburn. The town was named in honor of her father, John W. Brown, the first settler at Auburn.
Mr. and Mrs. Brown made their home at Thompsonville until October, 1920, when they moved to Highland Park and later to 1623 Clay street.
Mrs. Brown is survived by a sister, Mrs. I.B. Brown, Conway, Ark.; a brother, Edgar Brown, Thompsonville, Kan.; and a son, Dr. Earle G. Brown, city health officer of Topeka.
She was one of the first white children born in this section of the state. Her father came to Kansas in 1849.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 o'clock Friday afternoon at Penwell's chapel. Burial will be in Mount Hope cemetery.
