Funeral service for Patricia Hanchey "Pat" Berry, 77, were held on Monday, June 16, 2014 at First United Methodist Church in Leesville, LA. Pat passed away on Thursday, June 12, 2014. Burial followed in the Beauregard Cemetery in DeRidder, La.
Pat was born on January 21, 1937, at her grandparents house, Frank and Emma Genius in Kinder, Louisiana. She spent her younger years in Oberlin and Kinder, Louisiana. She attended and graduated from LaGrange High School, Lake Charles, Louisiana in 1955 where she was a Gatorette. She attended McNeese State University, Lake Charles, Louisiana.
Pat was an avid reader and loved cooking. She would spend time reading her large collection of cookbooks and trying the new recipes. Pat adored her family, especially her grandkids and great-grandson. She assisted her husband, Dick, in founding the Leesville High School Alumni Association and stayed active in assisting with duties of the Association. She was behind the development of the Alumni-by-Choice "ABC" membership designation. She and Dick were instrumental in growing the association and coordinating the annual alumni homecoming activities.
Pat was a devoted bridge player and enjoyed her many afternoons with her Bridge Club and partners; Barbara, Tresa, Jean, Linda, Bonnie, Johnnie Mae, Susie, Pat, Margaret, Jan, Martha, Cliff and Claire, and all the other ladies that she has enjoyed playing bridge with over the years.

Pat was preceded in death by her husband, Richard West "Dick" Berry, Sr.; her son Richard W. "Dicky" Berry Jr.; parents, James Aswell "Pat" Hanchey and Wynonah Genius Hanchey.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law of Anacoco; step-daughter and husband of St. Simon Island, GA; son and daughter-in-law of Lake Charles. Granddaughter and husband; one step-granddaughter; three grandsons. Her siblings and spouses. Her dear friends, Tina "Teeny" and Ikey and Jean.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Richard W. "Dicky" Berry Jr. Memorial Scholarship Fund, PO Box 1381, Leesville, Louisiana, 71496.
