Bob, age 71, of Brighton, MO passed away at 11:10 am Thursday, June 12, 2014 at Cox South Hospital from injuries suffered when his car was struck from behind by another vehicle on Missouri Highway 13 near BB in northern Greene County.

Bob grew up plowing corn fields on the family farm in the Stockton Valley area, beginning at age nine.

He was a graduate of Dadeville High School, Joplin Junior College, John Brown University, and Drury University for his Masters Degree. Bob received numerous athletic awards and achievements during his scholastic career. He set a number of school records, some which still stand today.

Bob was a teacher and coach for a number of years at local schools. His head coaching career included basketball, baseball and golf. He eventually moved into school administration.

During his career in education he continued his lifelong love of cars through his employment in car sales. He worked for several dealerships until opening his own "Bob Jones Used Cars" in Springfield, and later added an additional location near his home in Brighton.

Bob was united in marriage with Arletta (Stevens) Greer November 7, 1991 in Springfield, MO. He attended the First Baptist Church of Bolivar.

All who knew Bob agree that he was a Christian Man, a Gentle Man, A Generous Man and a very Humorous Man. His two greatest passions were spending time with family and trips to Colorado.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, step-father James Shelton, sister Martha Jones, and half-brother Jim Shelton. He is survived by his wife, daughter Kim and family; step-son Steven and family; step-son Jeff and family; half-brother JD; and Bob's special dog pets Chico and Choco. Chico was with Bob at the time of the car crash and was injured, but stayed in the car and survived.

Bob was an organ and tissue donor in honor of his father Ray who recovered from severe burns due to a house fire in the 1960's.
