Alice H. Foley passed away in Kennewick on September 5, 1995 of natural causes. She was born in Republic, WA., on March 10, 1911 to Hugh and Sadie McShane and graduated from Cheney Normal School (Eastern Washington University) and earned an advanced degree from Gonzaga University. Alice's dedication to children led her to teach at several Tri City elementary schools, including John Ball, Jefferson and Vista Elementary, for 40 years, finally retiring in 1968. She was involved with the Washington Education Association, the DAR and was a Democratic Party delegate. Alice and her husband also participated in the Shriner's organization for many years. She is survived by her daughter, Beverly Kay Young, and husband, Walker Young, daughter Sally Chapman, and husband, Harvey Chapman, and son, Patrick Foley and wife, Greta Foley. Alice enjoyed all of her 13 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren, all living nearby. She is also survived by her sisters, Colleen Crowfoot of Tonasket, WA., Kathleen Owsley and Patricia Rawley, both of Coulee Dam, WA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Byron M. Foley in 1971. There will be a private family memorial Sunday and graveside service Monday at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Richland, WA. Alice will be missed by all of her family.
