Philip Schwarz was born in Nebraska City, Nebraska, February 20, 1863, and passed away at his home in Onaga, August 4, 1940, at the age of 77 years, 5 months and 15 days.
He came to Kansas with his parents at the age of 6 years, where he has since resided. He was united in marriage on March 20, 1884, to Miss Mary Moll. To this union were born two children, Mrs. Lydia Eustis of Onaga and Lida of the home.
His wife preceded him in death on November 4, 1935. One brother, Henry, and three sisters, Caroline Homstead, Mrs. Dora Gurtler and Mrs. Anna Atwater, all preceded him in death. He is survived by four brothers, George of Holton,
Edward, John and Frank of Onaga; two sisters, Mrs. Emma Hoover of Onaga and Mrs. Lydia Hoy of Corvallis, Oregon; three grandchildren and three great-grand children. He was a kind and loving husband and father, also a good neighbor and a good citizen.
Funeral services were conducted by Dr. Thos. C. Hinkle, at the home, on Monday afternoon. Burial was in the Onaga cemetery.
