Sarah A. Glisson
(September 26, 1936 - August 4, 2010)

Sarah A. Glisson, 73, died peacefully at her home on August 4th, 2010 surrounded by her children and caregivers after a lengthy illness. She was born on September 26th, 1936 in Filbert, Pennsylvania to parents Dennis and Hulda Harvey, and moved at a young age to Washington D.C. where she was raised and attended the local schools. In 1962 she moved to Jacksonville with her former husband, Donald Glisson, where she raised her four children. She has lived in her current home on River Bluff Road for 40 years and will be missed by her neighbors the Hendrick's, Elser's, Coyle's, Reed's and numerous others. She has been a member of Christ the King Catholic Church since moving to Jacksonville 48 years ago, and was active in several of their guilds, committees and outreach programs.

Sarah was a licensed Real Estate Broker for 30+ years, and in the 1980's she was the President of Triad Realty. She retired in 1998 from Alliance Mortgage (Everbank) where she managed their real estate portfolio. She made many friends in her business life, but she truly enjoyed her retirement years. She traveled extensively and before her illness she had visited over 25 countries including New Zealand, Tahiti, Australia and most of Europe; with her all time favorite being the Greek Islands.

She was an avid and accomplished artist, primarily oil and watercolors, and painted up until the time of her illness. She was a member of the Jacksonville Fine Arts Forum and looked forward to attending their monthly luncheons. She was also a supporter of the Cummer Museum and she introduced art to her children and grandchildren, some of who have followed in her footsteps

She is survived by one daughter, Elizabeth Deaux, and three sons, Don Jr., Michael and Richard Glisson. She also is survived by eleven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She is also survived by one brother, Eddie Harvey, and two sisters, Flo Moore and Dorothy Chapman. The family would like to thank the caregivers from Grannies Nannies who took extraordinary care of her over the past 22 months, who's wonderful care allowed her to remain in her own home during her illness. We would also like to thank Dr. Raj Satyanarayana and the entire staff of The Mayo Clinic, whose efforts extended her time with us and gave her an excellent quality of life during her illness. Her family requests memorials in her name to Northeast Fl. Community Hospice, 4266 Sunbeam Rd, Jacksonville, Fl. 32257

A mass and memorial service will be held on Saturday August 14th at 11:00 am at Christ the King Catholic Church, 742 Arlington Rd. The family will be hosting a luncheon at the church following the ceremony.
