Mr. McGuire passed away on Friday, June 6, 2014 in Bethesda Health Care in Cookeville, TN.
He was born on April 14, 1925 in Bridgeport, CT to the late Patrick J. and Aurilla D. LaPierre McGuire.
Mr. McGuire was retired from the Bridgeport Police Department after serving 28 years as a patrolman.
He was a WWII veteran, serving in the Army 11th Airborne Division-Pacific Theater. He was a heavy machine gunner. He served overseas for 19 months in the Philippines, Okinawa, Japan, and Alaska with Company D, 187th Glider Infantry Regiment. As a parachute gunner, he fired and serviced heavy 30 caliber machine guns to destroy enemy personnel and installations.
He was a part of various organizations and associations such as The Knights of Columbus where he was a Third Degree Brother, The Ancient Order of Hibernians, Past President of the Trumbull Italian Community Club and the Tashua Knolls Senior Club where he will be remembered as an avid golfer.
He is survived by his wife, Grace Cousins McGuire; son, William T. McGuire and wife Barbara of Tennessee; 2 grandchildren, Matthew W. McGuire of Colorado and Kelly G. McGuire of Connecticut; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
