Janice Faulkner Pointer, 92, of Sallisaw died Monday, September 27, 2004, in Sallisaw. She was born August 8, 1912, in Sequoyah County. She was married to Melvin Faulkner on August 24, 1931, he preceded her in death in 1955. She married James Pointer in 1965, he preceded her in death in 1972. Preceded in death by her parents, Fred Bradley and Nora (Wofford) Bradley; one son, Fred Bradley Faulkner Sr; and one grandson Bryan Fulkner.

Mrs. Pointer was a 1931 graduate of Sallisaw High School and received her bachelor's degree from Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. She was an educator for over 42 years, predominantly second and third grade, she taught at Blue Mouse, Loanoke and Muldrow, she began teaching at Sallisaw in the fall of 1946 and retired from there in 1974. She was a charter member of Eastside Baptist Church in Sallisaw, a member of Seqwuoyah County Retired Teachers Association, Oklahoma Education Association, National Education Association, a former member of Sequoyah Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and Sequoyah County Democrat Women's Club.

Funeral was held at 3 p.m. at Eastside baptist Church in Sallisaw with burial at Sallisaw City Cemetery under the direction of Agent Funeral Home of Sallisaw.

She is survived by one grandson, one great-granddaughter, a special niece, Carol, a daughter-in-law, Betty, several nieces, nephews, and cousins including Dr. Bob Wells of Sallisaw, and the Rev. Gordon Wells.
