Dorothy A. Swett, 74, of Stockton and formerly of Clements, died May 2 in a Fresno care facility following a short illness. She was born Dorothy Alberta West on Aug. 4, 1923 in Chico.
Mrs. Swett was raised in Chico and graduated from Chico High School. After high school she moved to San Francisco and attended Heald Business College. She was employed in San Francisco for a short time before returning to Chico and working for the Sacramento Northern Railway.
She later moved to Clements where she met and married Richard E. Swett on April 23, 1946. The couple moved to Fresno in 1959 and she worked for Fireman's Fund Insurance.
They moved to Stockton in 1968.
She was a longtime member of Grace Church of Lockeford.
She is survived by a son, a daughter; a brother, Robert West; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Swett in 1997.
