Norman Joseph Authement, 83, died Monday, June 9, 2014 at 12:39 PM. He was a native and resident of Houma, LA.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 11, 2014 from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Chauvin Funeral Home and Thursday, June 12, 2014 from 9:00 AM until Service time at St. Francis de Sales Cathedral Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, June 12, 2014 at 11:00 AM at St. Francis de Sales Cathedral. Interment: St. Francis de Sales Cemetery #2.
He is survived by his, Wife of 64 years, Marlene Richard Authement, Children, Sue Pizzolato and husband Sammy, Patti Bent and husband Lynn, Robin Lirette and husband Jimmy, Stephanie "Tini" Rogers and husband Ricky, David Authement , Rick Authement, and Staci "Toot" Authement and Martha Gilley, 17 Grandchildren, 20 Great Grandchildren, and Brothers, Douglas Authement and John Authement.
He was preceded in death by his, Parents, Junius Joseph Authement and Louise Hebert Authement, Sister, Barbara Authement Bennett and husband Dan.
He was a parishioner of St. Francis de Sales Cathedral.
Norman was a business man since 1950. He was happiest when working on new business projects. His businesses included Norman's Clothing Store with the "Pit Stop" and "Surf Hut" themed departments, Norman's Tuxedo Rentals, complimented by Maison de' Couture fabric shop and Something Blue Bridal Shop. Tuxedo business is still operating today with all family members involved.
Norman followed in his father's footsteps with his love of fishing, always knowing where the hotspots were. His love for the outdoors and gardening kept the family in vegetables year round.
He was a family man who enjoyed spending quality time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren especially for Sunday dinners. He was caring and generous and helped many people throughout his life.
He will be sadly missed by all.
