Clifton Eugene "Gene" Pierce passed away in Ozark Riverview Manor. He was born the son of Manferd and Ethel (Hall) Pierce. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II. On July 25, 1944, he and Joella Chaffin were married. Gene owned and operated Pierce Department Store in Forsyth and later in Ozark for a number of years. In Forsyth, he was a member of the Lion's Club, Chamber of Commerce, and served on the Forsyth Board of Education as member and president. He was a founding member of Forsyth Church of Christ where he served as an elder. Following his move to Ozark, he also served as an elder for Southside Church of Christ. He was active in the World Bible School and was an evangelist both to Central and South America. He was an active Ozark Rotary Club member, and was a board member and volunteer for Hospice of Southwest Missouri. He was instrumental in establishing Pro Realty. Survivors include his wife, Joella, a daughter, a son, three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and an uncle.
