Mr. Melvin Ray Adams, 81, died at 8:35 P.M. on May 28, 2014 at the Forrest Manor Nursing Home in Dewey.

Melvin Ray Adams, born July 20, 1932 on a farm out of Lenapah, OK to parents Orval and Ruby Adams. He was a Korean War Veteran, U.S. Army infantryman who fought on the front lines, and was wounded in combat. He was a cook at his restaurant in Caney and Coffeyville, Kansas that he owned and operated. He also owned a couple of thrift stores. Melvin retired from Phillips 66 Petroleum after 20 years of service in Bartlesville, OK.



He was preceded in death by his wife Betty Adams of Nowata, his parents Orval and Ruby Adams, sister Doretha Adams, sister Evelyn Brewer of Palmdale, CA and brother Virgil Adams from Coffeyville.

Melvin was the ideal person and a devout Christian. He loved and cared for his friends, family and church.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 1 P.M. Tuesday, June 10, 2014 at the Mt. Washington Cemetery at Lenapah directed by the Stumpff Funeral Home & Crematory.
