HOWARD PURKAPLE, JR., 88, of Texas City, passed away Wednesday, June 4, 2014, at Mainland Center Hospital.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m., Monday, June 9, 2014, at Emken-Linton Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Forest Park East Cemetery. Visitation will be 3:00-5:00 p.m., Sunday, June 8, 2014 at Emken-Linton Funeral Home in Texas City.

Mr. Purkaple was born December 21, 1925 in Holdenville, Oklahoma. He served in Navy. He retired from Union Carbide where he was an Instrument Tech. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge A.F. & A.M. #1118 and a member of the Scottish Rite.

Howard is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Alice Flood Purkaple; his father, Howard Purkabple, Sr. and wife Margaret; his mother Reba Boles and husband Clyde; daughters, Karen Gonzales and Janet Purkaple; great-grandson, Andrew Paul Ybera

Survivors include his son, Randal Purkaple and wife Lisa; daughter, Michelle El Beckroui; brother, Jerry Purkaple and wife Lela; sister, Amar Vines and husband Ed; son-in-law; Freddie Gonzales; grandchildren, Scott Purkaple, Aaron Purkaple, Amanda Purkaple, Samira Ali; Leila El Beckrouip, Michael Purkaple, Melissa K. Tucker and Lynn Pye; and numerous great-grandchildren.

Family would like to express a special gratitude to his niece Janan Alford.
