Alvin was born on a farm on Hwy 73 that was called the 803, the son of Clarence G. and Dina T. (Erickson) Hammen. He attended Carpenter Grade School and Prairie Queen School. Alvin bought the home farm and farmed and took care of his parents in their last years. Alvin was baptized and confirmed at East Koshkonong Lutheran Church, Cambridge, WI where he was a lifelong member. He enjoyed playing his fiddle for events around the area. Alvin was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Clifford and a sister Ilene and two nieces Judy Trickel and Mary Ellen Hammen.
