McKENZIE, Cecil Arline-Burkley "Carroll" - Age 84, of Charlotte, died Wednesday, June 30, 1999 at Diamondale Nursing Facility. A Memorial Service will be held at the Mt. Morris First Baptist Church on July 17 at 11 AM. Mrs. McKenzie was born December 14, 1914 in Kalkaska, MI, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Eugene and Clara Adelia "Willis" Carroll. She was united in marriage with Mr. Gerald Burkley, who preceded her in death. Mrs. McKenzie graduated from Mt. Morris High School as the Salutatorian. She attended Northern Baptist Seminary in Chicago, Illinois where she received a Theological Bachelor Degree. She then attended Michigan State University, receiving a Bachelor Degree in 1961 and received her Master's Degree in Education in 1969. She was a member of MSU Honor Society. Cecil was always active in her church. She is survived by daughters, Joyce Hooper of Lansing, Carol and husband Harold Byrd of Lebanon, Ohio, Marjorie and husband Albert Marshall of Charlotte, and special daughter, Lucille and husband Chester Hulbert of Kalamazoo; grandchildren, Michael Byrd, Ryan Byrd, Dale, Paul, Jeffrey Shick and Holly Marshall; brother, Willis "Bud" and wife Ruth Carroll of Gladwin; 3 sisters, Alice "Susie" and husband Charles Adle of Mt. Morris, Marian and husband Emmett Barnes of Colorado, Carrie Louise and husband Ward Kenyon of California; many nieces and nephews. she was preceded in death by a sister, Frances "Midget" McPhail. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, Mt. Morris.
