Johannes was born in the Pequea Valley, PA., and his wife Mary Watson her parentage has not been established. They were the first Mennonites to settle around Ringgold, Washington, Maryland. Other early families were the Shanks, Stauffers, Shockey's Barkdoll's and Welty's. He was a Mennonite Minister of the River Brethren Church. He and his wife Mary were buried in the Hoover family cemetery. The farm was called "Necessity."

The story that President Hoover, was a family descendant, has been dismissed by DNA testing completed by Peter Hoover of Rocky Cape, Tasmania, Australia. The family is related to William Hoover. inventor of the Hoover Vacuum cleaners, and most likely with J. Edger Hoover, who was also of a Mennonite Background.

(4.) Andreas Huber.
(5.) Anna Maria Hoover, married Jacob Welty.
(6.) Christian Hoover, married Esther, her maiden name has not been established.
