Mrs. Ida Mae Satterfield, 89, of Erwin went home to be with her Savior on Thursday morning after a brief stay at Betsy Johnson Hospital. She was born Oct. 4, 1925 in Coats to the late Jasper Henry and Bertie McLamb Holmes. Also preceding her in death were brothers Henry Holmes and Hiram Holmes as well as twin granddaughters Allison Mae Myatt and Jennifer Renaé Myatt.

Mrs. Satterfield graduated from Coats High School. She was a member of Hodges Chapel PFWB Church. Until experiencing a decline in her health, she was a homemaker in Erwin after marrying Charles W. Satterfield on April 4, 1953. Her life was filled with love for her Lord, family and working in her yards. They were awarded Yard of the Month in Erwin for 3 years. She and Mr. Satterfield lived together at Harnett Woods nursing home.

A funeral service will held Saturday at 3 p.m. at Skinner & Smith Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Curtiss Tatum. Burial will follow in Devotional Gardens.

She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Charles W. Satterfield; her children Barbara Myatt and husband Al, Scott Dennis Satterfield and wife Deborah all of Erwin, and Wayne Satterfield of Raleigh. Her surviving grandchildren are Scott Satterfield (Kristen), Chris Satterfield (Nichelle) and W.A. Myatt. Her great grandchildren include Elijah Lee, Finly Scott and Magnolia Gray Satterfield. Surviving sisters are Elsie Holmes Weddings of Selma and Judie Holmes Wheeler of Benson and sister-in-law Elsie Holmes of Benson. Also surviving is family friend Paul Cobb of Raleigh.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 1:30-3pm at Skinner & Smith Funeral Home.
