Mrs. Amanda Adams died at her home in Bigelow, December 28, 1906, at the age of 71 years. She was born in Callaway county, Missouri, October 14, 1835 and came to Holt county in 1875.

In early life she was married to J.W. Adams, and by this union eight children were born, seven of whom with the father survive. All the children with the exception of James, new of Bellingham, Wash., were at her bedside at the time of her death. The last few months of her life was devoted much to prayer-praying for her friends and children-that God would lead them to repentance. She had just arose from prayer, asking the Lord to take her home, that she might be relieved from the suffering and be at peace and rest, when life's spark went out and this dear old mother and wife, was at rest-her prayer had been answered.

funeral services were conducted by Rev. L.A. Hunt at the M.E. Church and the remains laid to rest in the Caton cemetery, to await resurrection.
