George Stivers was the son of Randall Stivers and Phoebe Ball. He married Elizabeth "Lizzie" Rice on January 1, 1839 in Orange, Meigs County, Ohio.
He was killed at the Battle of Stone River in Tennessee during the Civil War. His wife applied for his pension.

2. Serena Adelaide Stivers born September 10, 1843.
3. Oliver Rice Stivers born June 9, 1846.
4. Mary Urania Stivers born September 23, 1854.

This is a cenotaph. Cpt Stivers is buried at Stones River National Cemetery, Section D Site 1455.
