Ole Christian A. Berg was born March 12, 1855 of Marie and Andrew Berg in western Toten, Norway. On April 16, 1877 he was united in marriage to Caroline C. Hanstad. To this union was born two children of which one is living. They emigrated to America in 1883 and settled in town of Vineland, Polk County, Minn. In 1896 they moved to Marshall County where they settled on a farm in New Maine township where he lived until his death June 30th, 1936. He was at the time of his death 81 years, 3 months, 18 days.
Mrs. Berg passed away Jan. 2, 1902. On June 14, 1903 he married Ingeborg E. Flaa. She passed away May 30, 1930.
He is survived by one brother, Carl Solien of Twin Valley, Minn., one daughter, Mrs. Nels Ekman of Newfolden, and nine grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held from the Mission Church on Thursday, July 2nd; Rev. Thv Myhrer, assisted by Rev. G. P. Ronholm, officiating. Interment was made in the city cemetery south of town. The pallbearers were: Knute Haugen, Charley Nelson, Matt Hanson, Ole Calru, G. O. Nordrum, and Louis Ekman.
A large number of friends and relatives from this community and also several relatives from Climax, Minn. gathered at the church to pay their last tribute to the departed. Peace to his memory. Newfolden Clarity, July 3, 1936
