Truby William Hames

Truby William Hames passed early Wednesday morning, March 19, 2014, at Confluence Hospital. He was born in Violet Hills, Franklin County, Arkansas on August 27, 1923, to parents, Sphrona J. (Rowden) and James Adolphis Hames. He graduated Oxford High School in 1941, and joined the Marines in May of 1943. He saw action in the Pacific and was wounded three times, once in Sapian and twice in Iwo Jima, where he saw the flag raised. He had three bronze stars, three purple hearts, plus the other ribbons and was in the 4th Marine Division. He came home October of 1945. He started driving a truck at 17. He married Willa Mae Ogle in 1946, and moved to Wenatchee in 1947. Four children were born to this union, Ricky D. (Glenda) Hames of Evergreen, CO, Deanna L. Brown and Karen D. (Benjamin) Denise of New Jersey, and Dennis W. (Myong) Hames of Atlanta, GA. He drove a truck for Cedargreen's and was a mason, who worked on the George Sellar Bridge and Alcoa. He moved to New Jersey in 1957. He was divorced in the late 1960's. He married Martha-Ann (Moberg) Hames on March 25, 1978. He then became Dad to three more children, Dr. George R. (Robin) Selix of Indiana, Theresa L. (Michael) Muszynski of Colorado Springs and Robyn L. (Tracy) Rodriguez of San Antonio, TX. He moved back to East Wenatchee in June of 1984. He had his own truck and trailer and covered the 48 states. He was injured in a truck accident in St. Louis, MO in November 1984, and was disabled. He had 17 grandchildren, Kara (Matt), Kevin (Jasmin), Jeremy (Sandy), Samantha, Alex, Tim (Missy), Kimberly (Joe), Ben Jr. (Felica), Elizabeth (Eric), James, Troy, Zacharey, Katherine, Anastasia, Cheyenne and Harley; seven great-grandchildren and a new peanut on the way in September.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father; brothers, Terry (Juanita), and James (Joanne); brothers-in-law, Bruce, R.D. Robins; and son-in-law, Billy Brown. He is survived by his wife; seven children and families; his sisters, Louise Robins of East Wenatchee, Barbara (Ken) Sisco of Traverse City, MI, Rhuydne Oglesby of Farmington, MI, and Virginia (Don) Willougby of Juno Beach, FL; and sister-in-law, Joyce Moberg of Florida.
A Graveside Service was held Wednesday, March 26, 2014, at Evergreen Memorial Park. Memorial donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project. Arrangements are by Telford's Chapel of the Valley, East Wenatchee.

He had his own truck and trailer and covered the 48 states. He was injured in a truck accident in St. Louis, MO in November 1984, and was disabled. He had 17 grandchildren, Kara (Matt), Kevin (Jasmin), Jeremy (Sandy), Samantha, Alex, Tim (Missy), Kimberly (Joe), Ben Jr. (Felica), Elizabeth (Eric), James, Troy, Zacharey, Katherine, Anastasia, Cheyenne and Harley; seven great-grandchildren and a new peanut on the way in September.
