Velma Bartmess, Nevada, 77, died of a heart ailment Sunday at the Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Nevada Municipal Cemetery.
Mrs. Bartmess was born in Missouri and lived many years in Nevada. In 1962, she retired from Nevada. Poultry, where she had worked nearly 20 years.
She is survived by a son, Guy of Nevada; a daughter, Velma Breer of Bethany, Mo.; five sisters, Alma Groomes of Des Moines, Mary Way and Zelphia Coffman, both of Unionville, Mo., Gayleen Robinson of Slater and Leah Tarkington of Moline, Ill.; four grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. visitation will be all day today at the Bacon Funeral Home in Nevada, where the family will greet friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
