​ Andrew McMurray Callahan (Henry2, John1) was born March 23, 1794 in Rutherford Co NC, and died May 14, 1879 in Marion County, Arkansas. He married (1) Amy Keeter December 20, 1824 in Rutherford County, North Carolina, daughter of Henry Keeter and Elizabeth Coxsey. She was born 1794 in North Carolina, and died Bef. 1870 in Marion Co. Ark. He married (2) Amy Keeter December 20, 1824 in Rutherford Co. N.C., daughter of Henry Keeter and Elizabeth Coxsey. She was born Abt. 1794 in Rutherford County, North Carolina, and died Bef. 1870 in Marion Co. Ark.

Andrew McMurray Callahan was the only proven child of Henry Callahan. Based upon deeds from Rutherford County, NC, Andrew purchased his father's sawmill in 1828, shortly before Henry died in 1830. Andrew may also have acquired the remainder of his estate after 1830. Andrew was living next to his father with a household containing 1 male 50/60, 1 male 30/40, 1 male under 5 years, 2 females 20/30, and 1 female under 5 years. The 1840 census for Rutherford County listed "An" Callahan with 1 male 30/40, 1 male 10/15, 1 male 5/10, 1 female 30/40, 1 female 10/15, 1 female 5/10 and 1 female under 5 years.
In 1848, two of Andrew's children died in a smallpox epidemic and shortly afterwards, he sold his land in Rutherford County and moved west to Marion County, AR. [In 1849 Andrew sold two tracts of land at "Callahan Mills Shoals" containing a total of 171 acres to William Idler. In 1853 he sold 65 acres of land to L.A. Mills, and he gave (or sold) 20 acres to a Sarah Callahan (relationship unknown). In 1855 and again in 1859, Andrew Callahan purchased 40 acres tracts in Section 21, Township 18N in Marion Co. The graves of Andrew's children at Brittian Presbyterian Cemetery are the oldest marked Callahan graves in Rutherford County, N.C.
Andrew McMurray Callahan is buried in the Van Zant Cemetery, Marion Co. Arkansas.

A very fatal disease, a kind of fever, has been raging in the county, a few miles south of town for the last few weeks. Two brothers, George and Alvin Smith, and Mrs. Andy Callahan have died of the disease, and others are now prostrated with the dread fever. It baffles the skill of the doctors.
