William R. Anderson was born on August 5, 1895 in Waverly, Pike Co., OH to James Bruff Anderson and Sarah Ellen Locke Anderson. On June 24,1916 in Washington, OH, William enlisted in the Army, Co. M 166 Infantry and in 1918, went overseas to France. He served for three years in WW1 and was Honorably Discharged July 17, 1919. When 'Bill' was twenty-five he married Bertha Mae Hammond, daughter of Alvin Edwin Hammond and Mae Elmina Chandler Hammond. Bill and Bertha were married on January 3, 1921 in Chillicothe, Ross Co., OH, they had fourteen children, Pauline, John, Evelyn, Alvin, Richard, William, Joseph, Melvin, Ellen, Sandy, Marilyn (Vickie), Elaine, Carl, & Thomas. William R. Anderson passed away in Downers Grove, DuPage Co., IL on August 14, 1958 at the age of sixty-three.
