Graduated from Llano High School in 1948; served from 1951-1953 in the Marines; Married Mildred Zelma Stotts on 23 Oct 1954 in Llano, Llano Co., TX.; Vice President of Buttery Wholesale Hardware in Llano, Llano Co. TX. After retirement he and his wife moved to Pack Saddle Mountain where they went into the Augus cattle business. They received the Outstanding Resident Conservationist Award in 2006. They have four children.
.Obit - " Allie Clinger Scott of Llano passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 3, 2014 at the age of 83. He was born on November 27, 1930 in Llano to Jeff Davis "Babe" and Laura Ellen (Clinger) Scott.
Clinger went to O'Henry Elementary School then went to Llano High School where he played many sports. Clinger graduated from Llano High School in 1948 as President of his Class. After high school he worked for Taylor Virdell Drilling for a short period of time before being drafted into the Army but was put in the US Marines for two years from 1952 to 1953. This was during the Korean War. He received an honorable Discharge as a Sergeant.
On October 23, 1954, Clinger married Mildred Stotts at the home of Mildred's parents. After their marriage they lived about nine miles out on Hiway 152 Castell Road. Then they moved to Llano where they built their home. Upon return from service he worked at Buttery Hardware Co. as a Vice President, he retired 36 years later and received a plaque for his dedicated service, loyalty and his friendship.
Clinger was elected in April 1975 to fill the one year unexpired term of Taylor Virdell, who became a Mayor. In April 1976 he was elected to a two year term on the City Council. In April 1978 he was re-elected to a two year term. He served a total of five years on the City Council of Llano, Tx.
Clinger was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include wife Mildred Scott, son George Scott, his three daughters Marsha Scott, Ginger Scott and Monica Scott. His two sisters Geraldine Lawless and Mary Vick Hamilton. He is also survived by 4 grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, June 6, 2014 at 10:00 A.M. at the Honey Creek Cemetery in Llano County, Texas with the Rev. Rick Cundieff officiating and The Highland Lakes Honor Guard will provide Military Honors.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Cherokee Children's Home or the charity of your choice."
