Rome - Thomas F. Preston, 77, of 1308 Franklin St., Rome, died yesterday morning in Rome Hospital after a long illness.
He was born in Rome, a son of Oren and Mary Lindridge Preston, and in 1923 married Ruth E. Adams in Port Byron. They would have been married for 50 years today.

He had lived his entire life in Rome and was a tool maker for Revere Copper & Brass, retiring in 1963. He also was a former piano teacher and conducted his own orchestra for many years.

Mr. Preston was a 1915 graduate of Rome Free Academy and attended the Utica Conservatory of Music, studying under Prof. Johannes Magendanz there. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church.

Besides his wife he leaves two sons, Robert E. Preston, of Herkimer and John L. Preston of Rome, a brother Harrison O. Preston of Texas is deceased.
