Early Life: Naomi was born on April 4, 1923, to Stephen and Eva Naomi Cole Cannon in Mammoth, Juab, Utah. The family later moved to Payson, where she attended public schools.
Life's Work/Service/Interests: On February 17, 1942, Naomi married Glen Albert Peterson in Provo, Utah. She lived for time in California while Glen served in the United States Navy during World War II. She worked at the Payson Hospital before becoming a full-time mom and raising her family. After the war ended, Glen and Naomi returned to Payson where they purchased a small house which they expanded and renovated many times over the years as they created a home for themselves and their family. Naomi and Glen loved to fish, camp and take vacation trips with the family. They cultivated a large garden which they were very proud of and which provided them with beautiful flowers and delicious vegetables. One could not visit Glen and Naomi without leaving with armfuls of squash, tomatoes, corn, peppers, parsnips, apricots or rhubarb. Naomi's bottled dill pickles were legendary. Naomi especially loved children and worked for many years as a teacher in the Primary program of the LDS Church. Naomi and Glen were sealed for eternity in the Provo LDS temple. In 1992, after she had raised her family and her husband, Glen, had passed away, she worked for many years as a temple worker in the Provo Utah LDS Temple. Naomi was a wonderful, devoted partner to her husband, a loving, caring mother to her children, and the best Grandma ever. She had a quiet, reserved demeanor and never spoke a harsh word to or about anyone. She was an exceptional, beautiful and dignified lady. With grace and dignity, Naomi Cannon Peterson slipped quietly and peacefully from this life on the afternoon of June 2, 2014, surrounded by her loving family. She was 91 years old.
