January 19, 2006:
Tecumseh resident Oma Enderle, 84, died Tuesday, Jan. 17, in Shawnee.
She was born Oct. 25, 1921, in Maud to Jesse and Martha (Hargus) Bray.
Oma grew up in oil patches throughout Oklahoma and New Mexico, where she graduated from high school with academic honors in 1938.
During World War II she was "Rosie the Riveter" with Douglas Aircraft.
After the war, she moved to California where she met and married the light of her life, Al Enderle, a career Navy man. They lived in many military locations including Kwajalein Island, Japan, Southern California and finally settling in Tecumseh, where they have lived for 39 years.
Oma was a homemaker. She enjoyed books, crossword puzzles, birdwatching and her beloved pets. She was always ready to travel to destinations exotic and ordinary, but her favorite was Lauglin, Nev. She was always quick to display radiant smiles and offer warm hugs. Her twinkling blue eyes could light any room and warm hearts.
She loved new shoes and custard pies. Above all, she loved her sweetheart of 58 years.
Her parents and a close cousin, Rena Bray Cole, precede her in death.
Survivors include her husband, Al Enderle, of the home; two daughters and son-in-law, Linda Ellen Innis of Edmond; Gaye Enderle and Monte Arney of Oklahoma City; grandchildren, Dr. Rob Rice, Scott Rice, Erich Ward and Adam Ward; special friends, Bob and Jimmie Ruth Ward; many friends and other family members.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Romulus Cemetery with Bob Anderson, Highland Church of Christ of Tecumseh, officiating. Cooper Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
