She was born in Frank's Switch, Missouri on August 19, 1919, to the late John C. and Mable V (Parker) Terry. On May 19, 1940, she married Thomas Andrew Prewett who preceded her in death on May 4, 1984.
Hazel was a retired Shelter Insurance Agent and the proprietor of Prewett Hardware in Edgar Springs, as well as helping operate the family farm for many years. She was a member of the Anutt Community Church and the Lenox Homemakers' Club.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers: Melvin, Milford, and Levi Terry; and two sons-in-law: Roger McAllister and Logan Black.
She is survived by: three sons, John Prewett, of Salem, Thomas Prewett and wife Donna of Thompson, and Peter Prewett of Edgar Springs; seven daughters, Mary Kay McAllister, of Piedmont, Betty Curtis and husband Jurl of Centralia, Rosalie Black of Edgar Springs, Ardena Mozingo of Edgar Springs, Martha Peters and husband David, of DuQuoin, IL., Victoria Prewett of Edgar Springs, and Sarah Cummings and husband Jerry, of Clark; 18 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Lucille Mannering, of Rolla, and Betty Terry, of Dixon; nieces, nephews, other extended family and friends.
Funeral services were held December 27, 2004, at the Null & Son Funeral Home. Interment followed in the Kenner Cemetery in rural Dixon.
Memorial contributions are suggested to either the Lenox Homemakers Club or the Bassinger Union Church at Lenox. All arrangements were under the direction of the Null & Son Funeral Home in Rolla.
