Dr. George A. Peabody, 91, passed away July 5, 2006 in Scottsdale, AZ. Born in Cleveland, Ohio, he graduated from Hillsdale College and Western Reserve University School of Medicine. Entering the US Army Air Force as a commissioned officer, he served in the Medical Corps as a WWII flight surgeon. Following the war George completed psychiatric training at New York Hospital before entering into private practice in Shaker Heights, Ohio and later in Scottsdale, AZ until retirement in 1987. He served as Head of the Dep't of Psychiatry at St. Luke's Hospital in Cleveland and Chief of Staff and Member of the Board of Directors of Camelback Hospitals in Phoenix, AZ. He was a Diplomat of the American Board of Neurology and Psychiatry and a Fellow of the American Psychiatric Assn. George was preceded in death by his wife of nearly 60 years, Ruth Pfau Peabody in 1999. Survivors include daughters Anne Torreano (Mike), of Colorado Springs, CO and Pam Furst, (Barry) of Chico, CA., son George "Jay" Peabody (Robin) of Littleton, CO. He is also survived by a sister Jody Lloyd of Jacksonville, FL and brother Richard Peabody of Mentor, Ohio, six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
