Ellen Alderman Jones , 84, widow of Lewis Mayrant Jones Jr., died Friday, June 23, 2000, in the Tuomey Regional Medical Center. Born in Alcolu, she was a daughter of the late Paul R. Alderman and Mina Blanchard Alderman. Mrs. Jones graduated from Manning High School and Winthrop College. She was a homemaker and a substitute teacher. She was a Sunday School teacher for 40 years, being a member of Clarendon Baptist Church until 1953, then joining Grace Baptist Church upon moving to Sumter where she served faithfully. She moved to Greenville in 1990, returning to Sumter in 1995 where she resided at Covenant Place.
