Walter John Heinrich, age 99, a resident of the Sheboygan Senior Community, formerly of 705 Mead Avenue, passed away on Thursday morning, July 11, 2013.

Walter was born on December 3, 1913 in Cedarburg, a son of the late Ernst and Mary Ann (Wierschem) Heinrich. He was a graduate of Cedarburg High School, Marquette University in 1935 and Georgetown Law School in 1942. Walter married Jean Lewise Duncan in Washington, D.C. on Sept. 10, 1941. She preceded him in death on October 19, 1999.

Walter served as a commissioned officer in the U.S. Navy from 1942 until 1946. He attained the rank of Lieutenant Commander

Walter was an estate tax examiner for the U.S. Treasury Department, Internal Revenue Service from 1946 until 1957. He joined the Bank of Sheboygan as a trust officer in 1957 and retired in 1975 as Senior Vice-President and General Counsel of Citizen's Bank of Sheboygan.

Walter was currently a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Sheboygan, the District of Columbia Bar Association, Wisconsin Bar Association and Sheboygan County Bar Association. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus and a 4th degree Knight, a member of the Marquette and Georgetown University Alumni Associations and the Alpha Kappa Psi (National Commerce Fraternity). He was a former charter member and president of the Serra Club, a member of theRotary Club, City Chairman for the Heart Fund Drive, president of the Sheboygan Marquette Alumni Association, president of Catholic Social Services, president of K of C Institute, treasurer of Camp Evelyn Heronymous Holding Association, served on the Board of United Way, and former member of Pine Hills Country Club.

Walter is survived by four sons and three daughters: Barbara (Ken) Brooks of Manitowoc, Thomas (Barbara) Heinrich of Sheboygan, James (Lynn) Heinrich of Brookfield, Mary (Mark) Trautschold of Plover, Robert (Denise) Heinrich of Chaska, MN, William (Lori) Heinrich of Green Bay, and Ann Kearney of Woodinville, WA.

He is further survived by 24 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Along with his wife he was preceded in death by one daughter, Kathie, one son, John and two sisters, Isabel Smith and Margaret Morgan.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Walter will be celebrated at 12 Noon on Tuesday, July 16 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Rev. Richard Cerpich presiding. Burial will follow in Immaculate Conception Cemetery. Family and friends may gather at the church, 1305 Humboldt Ave. on Tuesday morning from 10 a.m. until the time of Mass at Noon.
