McCormick SC - Mrs. Mattie Roberts Gable, 78, of McCormick, died at her home in McCormick Monday [November 7, 1960] night after a long illness. She was a daughter of W. H. Bowcik and Nancy Josephine Finley Bowick of Troy families and was a member of the Troy ARP Church. She was twice married, first to W. H. Roberts, who died in 1923. The following children survive this union: Mrs. Perry Bowick of Cross Hill, Mrs. B. C. Williams of Greenwood, Mrs. M. C. Dodgen of Greenwood, Mrs. W. M. Christian of Greenwood, Mrs. Roscoe Herin and Mrs. R. K. Butler of McCormick, and R. K. Roberts of Greenville. She is survived by her second husband. T. Maben Gable, and one son, M. David Gable of Anderson and 23 grandchildren and 17 grest-grandchildren. Interment in the Troy Cemetery. The State, Wednesday, November 9, 1960.
