Amanda Renee Gettig

June 15, 1989-Jan. 13, 2006

Into the loving embrace of Jesus our Sweet Angel now “Walks” and “Talks” with God. Amanda was born June 15, 1989 in Bakersfield, Calif. With complications during birth, she was diagnosed with celebral palsy and epilepsy and was legally blind. Amanda was recently diagnosed with a neurodegenerative disease. With God's hand, throughout her 16 years, her love of life, the strength of her spirit, and her beautiful smile touched everyone who knew her. Our lives, from her presence, will never be the same. Although her illnesses were debilitating, her little light always shined. Though Amanda's life was brief, she experienced life to its fullest extent. The echoes of “coo-coo” will ring forever in our hearts.

Amanda is survived by her parents, Tammy and Steve Heidelberger; father William Gettig, Jr., sister Brittany Gettig, stepbrother Westley Heidelberger; grandmothers Pattie Henderson and Donna Gettig; uncles and aunts Bob and Patty Frenes, Mark and Pam Gettig, Ida Rodriguez, Kathi Kline, Ron and Bonny Denison; cousins Bryan and Cole Frenes, Brooke and Joy Gettig, Barrett and Brandon Gettig, and Randy Rodriguez, Jr. She is preceded in death by her grandfathers Odell Henderson and William, Gettig, Sr.

A special thank you to Amanda's extended medical family, Dr. Kip Tulin, pediatricia; and Amanda's loving nurse, Kitty Moore.

Until we again, may God hold you in the palm of His hand.

There will be a viewing on Thursday, Jan. 19 at 2 - 8 p.m. at the Lake Isabella Funeral Home. Graveside services will be on Saturday, Jan. 21 at 10 a.m. at the Kern River Valley Cemetery in Wofford Heights.
