Descendant of General Edward Burleson


He was the son of Edward Burleson and Sarah Owen Burleson.

On June 28, 1861 as D.C. Burleson, he married Louisa Weir at Travis County, Texas.

They were the parents of eight children.


He was a Lieutenant in Company B, Thirty-second Texas Cavalry, which served in Texas and Louisiana during the Civil War. After the war he settled in the hill country west of San Marcos and operated a horse ranch. Later he moved to Buda where his wife died. After her death he moved to Austin and was a member of the police force until his death.
