Chenoweth Rite Slated In Calhoun

GRANTSVILLE - Service has been scheduled for 1 p. m. Wednesday for David Oscar Chenoweth, a retired merchant, teacher, postmaster and a former member of the Calhoun County Court.

Mr. Chenoweth, of Parkersburg, formerly of nearby Nicut, died Monday at St. Joseph Hospital in Parkersburg after an extended illness. The Calhoun County native was 97.

A postmaster at Nicut for 40 years, he taught school in Calhoun County and was operator of a general store and livestock farm in Nicut.

Mr. Chenoweth served two terms on the Calhoun County Court. While living in Parkersburg he was associated with the Chenoweth-Wheeler Realty Co. and was active in oil and gas production in both Calhoun and Braxton counties.

He is survived by sons, Thurl of Pecos, Tex., David W. and J. Wesley, both of Parkersburg, Denver of Nicut; and a daughter, Mrs. Harold Wheeler of Parkersburg, with whom he resided.

Service will be at the Stump Funeral Home here. Burial will follow in the Chenoweth-Smith Cemetery at Euclid.
