Helen Scullion Backstrom of Fayette City, died peacefully on May 30, 2014, at Shenago Presbyterian Senior Center, New Wilmington. She was born May 28, 1928, in Fayette City, daughter of the late Wilbert Scullion and the late Jean Stark Scullion.
Helen was a member of the Fayette City American Legion Auxiliary, and a loyal member Fayette City United Methodist Church where she served as treasurer, pianist, choir member. Helen was a loving wife, sister, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. Her kind spirit will live on in our hearts.
She is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, James and Susan Backstrom, Don and Karen Backstrom and Jack Backstrom. She was loved by all, especially her six grandchildren, Anika Anger, Lt. Ike Backstrom, Maggie Backstrom, Sara Backstrom, Luke Backstrom and Ian Backstrom.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald W. Backstrom; and brother, William Scullion.
Friends will be received from noon to 2 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, June 1, 2014, in the ELEY-McCRORY FUNERAL HOME INC., 334 Main St., Fayette City, 724-326-5621. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, June 2, 2014, in the funeral home.
Interment will follow in the West Newton Cemetery, West Newton.
