Marie Childers Matson died March 29 at Mimbres Memorial Nursing Home.

She was born August 1, 1893 in Indian Territory in the present state of Oklahoma and was preceded in death by members of her immediate family.

Memorial services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday at Baca's Funeral Chapels with burial services following at Mountain View Cemetery. The Rev. Steve Chappell and former pastor Hollis Shook will be assisting in services.

A dedicated teacher with an ardent interest in the educational development of students, Matson began her teaching career at Cooney, near Mogollon in 1910. She taught English at Deming High School for many years.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Deming and the Eastern Star of Hurley.

Memorials may be according to donor's election.
