JOHN PAXSON, 84, of Jensen Beach, Fla., formerly of Portland, died Sunday at home. He retired as a stockbroker from Thompson and McKinnon. He had also owned the Travel Lodge Motel in Muncie. He was a World War II Navy veteran. His wife, Margaret, died in 1982. Surviving are a son, J. Thomas of Fort Myers, Fla.; a daughter, Tamara Paxson of Indianapolis; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Services at 2 p.m. Thursday at Baird-Freeman Funeral Home, Portland. Calling from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, with Masonic services at 7:30 p.m. by Jay Lodge 87. Burial in Green Park Cemetery, Portland. Memorials to donor's choice.
