Riggs, John D.

John D. "Jack" Riggs, 68, of Winchester, passed away late Saturday night, June 25, 2011, at Passavant Area Hospital in Jacksonville.
He was born Jan. 2, 1943, in Santa Anna, Calif., the son of the late Ralph Richard and Mary Margaret Trumble Riggs. He married Connie Hawkins Lacey on Sept. 2, 1989.
Jack was a graduate of Winchester High School. He served in the U.S. Army, and retired in 2007 from the Illinois Department of Corrections. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Winchester. He loved to travel, ride motorcycles and spend time in Arizona.
Surviving is his wife, Connie at home; stepchildren, Tina Lacey, Elizabeth Lacey and Dawn Johnesse; grandchildren, Alisha Lacey and Jordan Foster; two brothers, Jim (wife, Sue) Riggs of Winchester and Ted (wife, Donna) McDonald of Carl Junction, Mo.; sister, Eva Jo (husband, Hal) McLaughlin of Winchester; and many nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents; his stepmother Jessie McDonald Riggs; and a sister, Betty Corson Darlington.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Coonrod Funeral Home in Winchester. Burial will be at Winchester City Cemetery where military honors will be conducted. Friends may call Tuesday from 9 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
