Mr. H. Melvin Keller, one of the best known and highly esteemed farmers of the vicinity of Myersville, this county, died about 5 o'clock Monday morning, April 4, after a short illness from typhoid pneumonia, in his 57th year. Mr. Keller, who resided about 2 1/2 miles southwest of Myersville, was widely known in the northern section of Middletown valley and was held in high favor by all. He was a gentleman of excellent Christian character, and was upright in all his dealings. He was a member of a large and influential family. Mr. Keller was a consistent member of the Middletown Reformed church. He was a son of the late Henry and Sarah Keller and was born on the old home place in the vicinity of the home in which he died. He is survived by his widow, who was a Miss Schildknecht, and four children: Josie, Frank, Charley and Naomi, all at home. Three sisters and three brothers also survive: Annie, wife of Charles M. Shank, Middletown; Jennie, wife of Mr. Statton Smith, of Myersville; Clenntha, wife of Mr. Harlan Summers, Walkersville; Rupley and Sumner, near Myersville, and Edgar, of near Mt. Tabor. The funeral took place from the United Brethren church at Myersville, at 11 o'clock Wednesday morning in the presence of a large assemblage of relatives and friends, the church being crowded. His pastor, Rev. George A. Snyder, of Middletown, officiated, assisted by the pastor of the church, Rev. W. H. Zuze. The pallbearers were Carlton Dutrow, George D. Toms, Samuel Pettingall, Benton Morgan, Milton Summers and Charles Smith. Interment was made in the cemetery adjoining the church.
